Feature story image, Daniel Gomis abroad in Cuba

Fall 2015 — While studying abroad in Cuba, Daniel Gomis enjoyed the vibrant culture that thrives on salsa music and a rich history. Gomis, an international student from Senegal and a forward for the OSU men’s basketball team, believes his study abroad experience prepared him to be a successful traveler in other countries and expanded his horizons and global perspective.

Off the basketball court, he is a big fan of the soccer team Arsenal and a firm believer that Thai Chili is the best restaurant in Corvallis. Gomis is an anthropology student and a member of OSU’s African Student Association. When asked about his plans for after graduation, Gomis says that he wants to help people in his native Senegal. “I want to make my home country a better place for people to live and grow up in,” he shared.
